The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 1:16 p.m. this day, at the Stanley Bridge Country Resort in Kensington, P.E.I., the Chair, Wayne Easter, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Yvan Bernier, John Cummins, John Duncan, Wayne Easter, Bill Matthews, Lawrence O'Brien, Peter Stoffer.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Government of Prince Edward Island: The Honourable Kevin J. MacAdam, Minister, P.E.I. Department of Fisheries and Tourism; Lewie Creed, Assistant Deputy Minister, P.E.I. Department of Fisheries and Tourism. From the P.E.I. Shellfish Association: Bill Murley, President; Lomen MacLean, President, Prince County Shellfish Association. From the Lennox Island Mi Kmaq Band: Charlie Sark, Chief; Tracy Cutcliffe, Adviser. From the Snow Crab Area 12, 25 & 26 Association: Doug Cameron, Executive Director; Carter Hutt, President; Joey Aylward, Secretary Treasurer.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), study on the implications of the September 17th, 1999 Supreme Court decision on R. v. Marshall on the Management of fisheries in the Atlantic Region.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
By unanimous consent, it was agreed to hear the Auditor General of Canada on December 7, 1999.
At 3:47 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
