Meeting No. 33

Tuesday, November 30, 1999

The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 11:33 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Acting Chair, Karen Redman, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Scott Brison, Roy Cullen, Sophia Leung, The Hon. Lorne Nystrom, Gary Pillitteri, Karen Redman and Paul Szabo.

Acting Member present: Paul Forseth for Richard Harris.

Associate Member present: Guy St-Julien.

Other Member present: Libby Davies.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore, Researcher.

Witnesses: From the Canadian National Institute for the Blind: Angelo Nikias, National Director, Government Relations, International Liaison; Fran Cutler, National Board Member. From the Community Foundations of Canada: Barbara McInnes, Vice-Chair. From the Portland Hotel Society: Liz Evans, Associate Executive Director. From the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada: David Comba, Director; John A. Hansuld, Past President, President, Central Asia Gold Fields Corporation. From the City of Timmins: Victor Power, Mayor.

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultations. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, November 2, 1999, Meeting No. 2).

 

Fran Cutler, Angelo Nikias, Barbara McInnes, Liz Evans, David Comba and Victor Power made statements and, with the other participants in the roundtable, answered questions.

At 1:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
