The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Scott Brison, Roy Cullen, Nick Discepola, Albina Guarnieri, Sophia Leung, , Richard Marceau, The Hon. Lorne Nystrom and Karen Redman.
Acting Members present: Paul Forseth for Monte Solberg; Monique Guay for Yvan Loubier.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore; Jean Soucy, Researcher; Marion Wrobel.
Witnesses: From the National Anti-Poverty Organization: Laurie Rektor, Executive Director; Mike Farrell, Assistant Director. From the Canadian Union of Public Employees: Morna Ballantyne, Managing Director, National Services; Jane Stinson, Director of Research. From the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association: Sharon Chisholm, Executive Director. From the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association Inc.: Mark R. In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultations. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, November 2, 1999, Meeting No. 2).
Laurie Rektor, Mona Ballantyne, Sharon Chisolm, Mark Daniels, Michael Roschlau, Frank McCarey, Jean-François Tardif and Michael Conlon made statements and, with the other participants in the roundtable, answered questions.
At 5:09 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
