Thursday, November 4, 1999

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 9:38 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Vice-Chair, Colleen Beaumier, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Jean Augustine, Colleen Beaumier, Francine Lalonde, Bernard Patry, Yves Rocheleau, Bob Speller.

Acting Member present: Lee Morrison for Deepak Obhrai.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gerald Schmitz, Daniel Dupras, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From Gowling, Strathy and Henderson: Guy David, Lawyer, Project Leader of the Review Team; Gerald E. Shannon, Chair of Stakeholder Consultations, Review Team; Stan McRoberts, Research Economist, Review Team; Maxime Faille, Lawyer, Project Assistant of the Review Team. From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Louise Charron-Fortin, Director General, Commissioner Service Planning and Policy; Robert Shaw-Wood, Deputy Director, Export Finance Division; Richard Lecoq, Director, Export Finance Division.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and Article 25(3) of the Export Development Act, the Committee resumed its study of the Report on the Review of the Export Development Act.

Guy David made an opening statement and, with Gerald Shannon, Maxime Faille and Stan McRoberts, answered questions.

At 10:52 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:03 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Louise Charron-Fortin made an opening statement and, with Richard Lecoq and Robert Shaw-Wood, answered questions.

At 11:58 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
