The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 9:09 a.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Vice-Chair, Steve Mahoney, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Jean Augustine, Leon Benoit, John Bryden, Joe Fontana, Sophia Leung, Steve Mahoney, John McKay, David Price and Andrew Telegdi.
Acting Member present: Serge Cardin for Bernard Bigras.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Margaret Young, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Immigration and Refugee Board: Philip Palmer, General Counsel; John Frecker, Deputy Chairperson, Refugee Division; Manon Brassard, Director General, Adjudication Division; Glen Bailey, Director General, Policy, Planning and Research.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on all aspects of the Refugee Determination System and Illegal Migrants. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday, November 3, 1999, Meeting No. 2)
Philip Palmer, John Frecker and Manon Brassard made statements.
The witnesses answered questions.
At 11:05 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
