Meeting No. 9

Monday, December 6, 1999

The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:00 p.m., this day, at the Elk's Lodge 57, at 423 Main Street South, in Dauphin, Manitoba, the Chair, John Harvard, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Rick Borotsik, Murray Calder, John Harvard, Larry McCormick, Joe McGuire, Dick Proctor.

Acting Member present: Inky Mark for Garry Breitkreuz.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch - Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Researcher; Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist.

Witnesses: As Individual: Duane Zimmer; Neil Stewart; Walter Kolisnyk; Gert Schwickart; Stuart Zander; Art Potoroka; Albert Dohan; Richard Hamilton. From the Allard & Yakubchak Certified General Accountants: George Allard, Partner. From the Parkland Industrial Hemp Growers: Joe Federowich, Chairman.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of the effectiveness of long-term safety nets and other national initiatives to provide the stability and environment necessary for stable growth in the agricultural industry.

Walter Kolisnyk, Gert Schwickart, Neil Stewart and Duane Zimmer made opening statements and answered questions.

Albert Dohan, Richard Hamilton, Stuart Zander and Art Potoroka made opening statements and answered questions.

George Allard and Joe Federowich made opening statements and answered questions.
