The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:05 a.m., this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, John Harvard, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Hélène Alarie, Rick Borotsik, Garry Breitkreuz, Murray Calder, John Harvard, Howard Hilstrom, Gar Knutson, Larry McCormick, Joe McGuire, Ian Murray, Dick Proctor, Gerry Ritz, Paul Steckle, Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Members present: Rick Casson for Garry Breitkreuz; Paul Bonwick for Mark Assad.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch-Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Researcher; Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist.
Witnesses: From the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada: Douglas D. Hedley, Senior Executive Director, Policy Branch; Tom Richardson, Director General, Farm Income Policy & Programs Directorate, Policy Branch; James Wheelhouse, Director General, Economic and Policy Analysis Directorate, Policy Branch; Danny Foster, Managing Director, NISA/AIDA, Policy Branch. From the Farm Credit Corporation: Jacques Lagacé, National Director, Government and Industry Relations.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to hold an Information Session on Farm Aid Programs, Agricultural Income Disaster Assistance (AIDA) Program and the Net Income Stabilization Account (NISA) Program.
Douglas D. Hedley and Danny Foster made opening statements and, with other witnesses, answered questions.
At 11:01 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
