Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Gallaway (Sarnia -- Lambton), seconded by Mr. Szabo (Mississauga South), Bill C-393, An Act to amend the Competition Act, 1998 (negative option marketing), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Presenting Petitions

Pursuant to Standing Order 36, petitions certified correct by the Clerk of Petitions were presented as follows:

-- by Mr. Riis (Kamloops), one concerning international trade (No. 361-0770), one concerning the Canada Pension Plan (No. 361-0771) and one concerning the tax system (No. 361-0772);

Questions on Order Paper

Mr. Adams (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) presented the answer to question Q-86 on the Order Paper.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The Order was read for the consideration of the Business of Supply.

Mr. Hill (Macleod), seconded by Mr. Vellacott (Wanuskewin), moved, -- That this House urges the government to act on the recommendation of Justice Horace Krever to compensate all victims who contracted Hepatitis C from tainted blood.

Debate arose thereon.

Mr. White (Langley -- Abbotsford), seconded by Mr. Strahl (Fraser Valley), moved the following amendment, -- That the motion be amended by adding after the word ``House'' the following:

    ``strongly''.

Mr. Vellacott (Wanuskewin), seconded by Mr. Hoeppner (Portage -- Lisgar), moved, -- That, in the opinion of this House, the government should withdraw all funding from the Federal Court Challenges Program. (Private Members' Business M-327)
