The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Pat O'Brien, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Gordon Earle, Jim Hart, René Laurin, Pat O'Brien, John O'Reilly, David Price, John Richardson.

Acting Member present: Janko Peric for Judi Longfield.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Corinne McDonald, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Defence Industries Association: Robert N. Fischer, President. From the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada: Peter Smith, President and CEO. From the Shipbuilding Association of Canada: Peter Cairns, President. From the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association of Canada: John Leech, General Manager.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee resumed a study on Contracting and Procurement.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
