The Standing Committee on Industry met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Antoine Dubé, Marlene Jennings, Francine Lalonde, Walt Lastewka, Jim Pankiw, Janko Peric, Alex Shepherd and Susan Whelan.

Acting Member present: John Duncan for Rahim Jaffer.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nathalie Pothier, Research Officer.

Appearing: From the Office of the Secretary of State (Multiculturalism) (Status of Women): The Hon. Hedy Fry, Secretary of State (Multiculturalism)(Status of Women).

Witnesses: From Status of Women Canada: Florence Ievers, Co-ordinator; Rana Scheherzade, Economic Policy Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a study on Gender Equity - Industry Canada.

The Honourable Hedy Fry made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:05 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:12 a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 10:50 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
