The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met jointly with the Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs at 3:16 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Pat O'Brien, presiding.
Member of the Committee present: André Bachand.
Acting Member present: Réal Ménard for Daniel Turp.
Members of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs present: Gordon Earle, Pat O'Brien, David Pratt
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Corinne McDonald, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Jim Wright, Director General for Central East and South Europe. From the Department of National Defence: BGen D.M. Jurkowski, Chief of Staff J3 and Director General, Military Plans and Operations. From the Canadian International Development Agency: Hélène Corneau, Program Manager, Central and Eastern Europe Programme; Charles Bassett, Vice-President, Central and Eastern Europe Branch. From the Citizenship and Immigration Canada: Jeff LeBane, Director General, International Regions.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its consideration of the situation in Kosovo. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Wednesday, March 31, 1999, Meeting No. 111)
Jim Wright, BGen D.M. Jurkowski, Jeff LeBane and Hélène Corneau each made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 4:12 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
