Thursday, April 29, 1999

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in the Grand Ballroom East of the Hilton London Hotel, London, Ontario, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Jean Augustine, Maud Debien, Bill Graham, Jerry Pickard.

Acting Member present: Deepak Obhrai for Darrel Stinson.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its examination of Canada's trade objectives and the forthcoming agenda of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Canada's priority interests in the FTAA process.

Laurie Curry, Fred Brandenburg, William McClounie, Jim Whitelaw and Dennis Jack each made an opening statement and, with Terry Daynard, Liam McCreey and Christine Lowry, answered questions.

At 10:55 a.m., Timothy Plumptre made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 11:25 a.m., Gil Warren and Bob Sexsmith each made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 12:11 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:38 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Dennis Gaumond, Robert Barron, Sue Langlois and Cecily Nicholson each made an opening statement and, with David Thomas, answered questions.

At 2:45 p.m., Jim Anderson, Randy Pedersen, Al Kuhn and Maria Hatzipantelis each made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 3:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
