Wednesday, March 24, 1999

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in the Salon Parc 1 of the Hotel du Parc in the City of Montreal, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: André Bachand, Maud Debien, Bill Graham, Bernard Patry, Benoît Sauvageau.

Acting Members present: Raymonde Folco for Jean Augustine; Deepak Obhrai for Charlie Penson.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Daniel Dupras, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee continued its examination of Canada's trade objectives and the forthcoming agenda of the World Trade Organization (WTO). (See the Minutes of Proceedings of October 22, 1998, Meeting no. 73.)

Warren Allmand made an opening statement and, with Diana Bronson, Craig Forcese and Carole Samdup, answered questions.

Robert Pilon, Gilles Valiquette and Paul Spurgeon each made an opening statement and answered questions.

Joseph A. Di Iorio made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 12:15 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:45 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Jacques Garon, Henri Massé, Michel Audet and Claudette Carbonneau each made an opening statement and, with Lise Côté et Peter Bakvis, answered questions.

Annie Chapados, Luc Laliberté and Ginette Lussier-Price each made an opening statement and answered questions.
