CITI Committee Meeting

MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
(Meeting No. 01 )

TUESDAY, October 7, 1997

The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 3:37 p.m., this day, in Room 308, West Block, for the purpose of electing a Chair and two Vice-Chairs, pursuant to Standing Orders 106(1) and 106(2).

Members of the Committee present: Jean Augustine, Sarmite Bulte, Obhrai Deepak, Stan Dromisky, Raymonde Folco, Monique Guay, Steve Mahoney, John N. McKay, Grant McNally, Réal Ménard, Maria Minna, John Reynolds, Jacques Saada and Diane St-Jacques.

Acting Members present: Andrew Telegdi for Sophia Leung and Louise Hardy for Gordon Earle.

Other Member present: Sophia Leung.

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Chair.

On motion of Jean Augustine, seconded by Grant McNally, it was agreed, - That Stan Dromisky do take the Chair, as Chair of the Committee.
Accordingly, Stan Dromisky was declared duly elected Chair of the Committee and took the Chair.

On motion of Deepak Obhrai, it was agreed, - That John Reynolds be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

On motion of Maria Minna, it was agreed, - That Raymonde Folco be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

On motion of Réal Ménard, it was agreed, - That the Clerk provide Members of the Committee with briefing books, and also takes steps to arrange briefing sessions to the Committee by officials from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration and from the Immigration and Refugee Board.

It was agreed, - That routine motions will be discussed at the next meeting of the Committee.

At 3:50 p.m., the Committee adjourned, to the call of the Chair.
