Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Goodale (Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food) for Mr. Manley (Minister of Industry), seconded by Mr. Pettigrew (Minister for International Cooperation), Bill C–57, An Act to amend the Bell Canada Act, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Anderson (Minister of Transport), seconded by Mr. Pettigrew (Minister for International Cooperation), Bill C–58, An Act to amend the Canada Shipping Act (maritime liability), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Anderson (Minister of Transport), seconded by Mr. Pettigrew (Minister for International Cooperation), Bill C–59, An Act to implement Articles 1 to 22 of the Athens Convention relating to the Carriage of Passengers and theirLuggage by Sea, 1974, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

His Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled “An Act to establish the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and to repeal and amend other Acts as a consequence”.

“Bill C–45, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (judicial review of parole ineligibility) and another Act, be not now read a third time but that it be read a third time this day six months hence.”
