GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The Order was read for the consideration of the Business of Supply.

Mr. Ramsay (Crowfoot), seconded by Mr. Speaker (Lethbridge), moved, -- That this House recognize that the families of murder victims are subjected to reliving the pain and fear of their experience as a result of the potential release of the victims' murderers allowed under section 745 of the Criminal Code, and as a consequence, this House urge the Liberal Government to formally apologize to those families for repeatedly refusing to repeal section 745 of the Criminal Code.

Debate arose thereon.

Mr. McClelland (Edmonton Southwest), seconded by Mr. Morrison (Swift Current -- Maple Creek -- Assiniboia), moved the following amendment, -- That the motion be amended by inserting after the word "formally" the following:

    ``and immediately''.

Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. McTeague (Ontario), seconded by Mr. O'Reilly (Victoria -- Haliburton), Bill C-381, An Act to amend the Competition Act (protection of those who purchase products from vertically integrated suppliers who compete with them at retail), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

By unanimous consent, Mr. Zed (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons), seconded by Mr. O'Brien (London -- Middlesex), moved, -- That the 58th Report of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, presented earlier today, be concurred in.
