A meeting of the Working Group on the LTVP and the Centre Block Rehabilitation was held in camera on Friday, November 27, 2020, at 9:02 a.m., in Room 035-B, West Block.

Present: Kelly Block, Carol Hughes, Hon. Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Louis Plamondon, Martin Shields and Ryan Turnbull

CENTRE LIGHT COURT INFILL

Susan Kulba, Director General and Chief Architect, Real Property, presented the centre light court infill proposal, and with Rob Wright, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Parliamentary Infrastructure Branch, Public Services and Procurement Canada, answered questions.

It was agreed, – That the working group recommend an infill of the centre light court on three levels above the Hall of Honour, while respecting conservation principles.

EAST AND WEST LIGHT COURTS INFILL

Susan Kulba, Director General and Chief Architect, Real Property, presented the East and West light courts infill proposal, and with Rob Wright, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Parliamentary Infrastructure Branch, Public Services and Procurement Canada, answered questions.

It was agreed, – That the working group recommend that the West light court be covered with a new glass enclosure and that it be converted into an open, light-filled space providing public access to the galleries from the Parliament Welcome Center.

It was agreed, – That the working group recommend that the West light well above the House of Commons Foyer be covered with a new glass enclosure to restore natural light as originally intended in the Beaux-Arts planning.

ENGAGEMENT WITH THE SENATE

Michel Patrice, Deputy Clerk, Administration, presented a proposal for engagement with the Senate concerning common spaces and other related matters.

It was agreed, – That a joint meeting be held with the Senate Subcommittee on Long Term Vision and Plan.

ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY FOR MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT

Kori Ghergari, Head, Corporate Communications, and Nancy Durning, Senior Communications Advisor, Corporate Communications, presented the draft engagement strategy for Members of Parliament and answered questions.
