Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, September 18, 2023, the committee resumed its study of integration of indigenous traditional knowledge and science in government policy development.

Patrice Simon and Dominique Henri made statements and, together with Cheryl-Ann Johnson, answered questions.

At 12:04 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:12 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Danika Littlechild, Heather Sayine-Crawford and Tammy Steinwand-Deschambeault made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of big science in Canada, the proposed budget in the amount of $105,242.20, for the Committee’s travel to Vancouver and Penticton, British Columbia, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Sudbury and Chalk River, Ontario, during spring 2024, be adopted.

Motion

Corey Tochor moved, — That, the committee invite the Minister of Industry along with department officials to appear for two hours to explain why Huawei is absent from the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada’s list of Named Research Organizations who are identified as posing a high risk to Canada’s National Security, and that the committee report this back to the House.

Debate arose thereon.

Arielle Kayabaga moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.
