Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, the committee commenced its study of use of federal government research and development grants, funds, and contributions by Canadian Universities and research institutions in partnerships with entities connected to the People’s Republic of China.

Christian Leuprecht and Jim Hinton made statements and answered questions.

Pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the committee continue to sit.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 11:46 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:16 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, December 5, 2022, the committee commenced its study of long-term impacts of pay gaps experienced by different genders and equity-seeking groups among faculty at Canadian Universities.

Alexa D’Addario and Ivy Lynn Bourgeault made statements and answered questions.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $21,300.00, for the study of use of federal government research and development grants, funds, and contributions by Canadian Universities and research institutions in partnerships with entities connected to the People’s Republic of China, be adopted

At 12:56 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:59 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, the committee resumed its study of the Government of Canada’s graduate scholarship and post-doctoral fellowship programs.

It was agreed, — That the deadline for the submission of briefs in relation to the study of Government of Canada’s Graduate Scholarship and Post-Doctoral Fellowship Programs be Friday, July 28, 2023.

The committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report.

At 1:11 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
