The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Second Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

1. That the study of the rise of ideologically motivated violent extremism in Canada and the study of the assessment of Canada’s security posture in relation to Russia be undertaken concurrently by the committee, and that two meetings per week be devoted to each study.

2. That the study of the rise of ideologically motivated violent extremism in Canada be undertaken the week of March 28, 2022, followed by the study of the assessment of Canada’s Security Posture in Relation to Russia, the week of April 4, 2022.

3. That the ministers of Public Safety, Emergency Preparedness and National Defense appear before the committee on the study of the assessment of Canada’s Security Posture in Relation to Russia according to their availability.

4. That six meetings be dedicated to the study of the rise of ideologically motivated violent extremism in Canada.

5. That members submit their prioritized list of witnesses for the study of the assessment of Canada’s Security Posture in Relation to Russia to the clerk no later than Friday, March 25, 2022.

6. That the committee invite the Minister of Public Safety to appear as part of its study of the Main Estimates, 2022-23.

7. That the committee undertake a study of the Supplementary Estimates (C), 2021-22 and invite the Minister of Public Safety.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $1,025, for the study of occupation of Ottawa and the federal government’s response to convoy blockades, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $11,150, for the study of assessment of Canada’s security posture in relation to Russia, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $9,200, for the study of the rise of ideologically motivated violent extremism in Canada, be adopted.

Pursuant to the order of reference of Tuesday, December 7, 2021, the committee resumed its study of gun control, illegal arms trafficking and the increase in gun crimes committed by members of street gangs.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 1:02 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
