Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the subcommittee resumed its study on budget submissions.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage be granted a supplementary study budget of $29,025.00 for its study of safe sport in Canada.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on International Trade be granted a travel budget of $49,883.67 to travel to Washington, D.C., United States of America, in the Spring of 2023, in relation to its study of potential trade impacts of the United States Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 on certain firms and workers in Canada.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics be granted a travel budget of $3,175.33 to travel to Gatineau, Québec, and Ottawa, Ontario, in the Spring of 2023, in relation to its study of the access to information and privacy system.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development be granted a travel budget of $319,602.69 to travel to Yerevan, Armenia; Baku, Azerbaijan; Lachin, Azerbaijan; Kyiv, Ukraine; Warsaw, Poland, and Przemysl, Poland, in the Spring or Summer of 2023, in relation to its study of the security at the borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the situation at the Russia-Ukraine border and implications for peace and security, provided that security clearances be given.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on the Status of Women be granted a travel budget of $73,687.80 to travel to Vancouver, British Columbia; Toronto, Ontario; Brampton, Ontario; Mississauga, Ontario; Sault Ste Marie, Ontario; Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, in the Spring of 2023, in relation to its study of human trafficking of women, girls and gender diverse people.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be granted a travel budget of $166,253.67 to travel to Oslo, Norway; Trondheim, Norway; Oslo County, Norway, and Trøndelag County, Norway, in the Spring of 2023, in relation to its study of the ecosystem impacts and management of pinniped populations.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights be granted a travel budget of $149,508.05 to travel to Geneva, Switzerland; Amsterdam, Netherlands, and The Hague, Netherlands, in the Spring of 2023, in relation to its study of available international mechanisms to hold state parties and others accountable for international atrocity crimes (war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide).

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Official Languages be granted a travel budget of $186,110.07 to travel to Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom; Stornoway, Scotland, United Kingdom; Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom; Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom; Aberystwyth, Wales, United Kingdom; Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom; Galway, Connacht, Ireland; London, United Kingdom; Liverpool, United Kingdom, and Dublin, Ireland, in the Spring of 2023, in relation to its study of best practices in supporting minority language communities.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on National Defence be granted a travel budget of $221,486.49 to travel to Tallinn, Estonia; Riga, Latvia; Vilnius, Lithuania, and Warsaw, Poland, in the Spring of 2023, in relation to its study of threat analysis affecting Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces’ operational readiness to meet those threats.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates be granted a travel budget of $61,547.90 to travel to Québec, Québec; Lévis, Québec, and Halifax, Nova Scotia, in the Spring of 2023, in relation to its study of the National Shipbuilding Strategy.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates be granted a travel budget of $70,184.30 to travel to Vancouver, British Columbia, and Victoria, British Columbia, in the Spring of 2023, in relation to its study of the National Shipbuilding Strategy.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Natural Resources be granted a travel budget of $99,646.02 to travel to Houston, Texas, United States of America; Denver, Colorado, United States of America; Golden, Colorado, United States of America, and Sacramento, California, United States of America, in the Spring of 2023, in relation to its study of Canada’s clean energy plans in the context of North American energy transformation.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Science and Research be granted a travel budget of $89,050.55 to travel to Kelowna, British Columbia; Penticton, British Columbia; Kaleden, British Columbia; Vancouver, British Columbia; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Toronto, Ontario; Sudbury, Ontario; Lively, Ontario, and Chalk River, Ontario, and surrounding area, in the Spring of 2023, in relation to its study of big science in Canada.

The subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to subcommittee business.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee, through a letter sent by its Chair, invite all committee Chairs to ask their committee to determine which of their studies may require committee travel during the period from July to December 2023; that committees interested in travelling be invited to prepare a rationale for why such travel would be required and be requested to submit a detailed budget to the subcommittee, via its clerk, no later than May 19, 2023.

At 1:13 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
