Shannon Stubbs moved, — Given that Alberta is one of seven provinces that oppose the Prime Minister’s 23% carbon tax increase on April 1, 2024, and that the Prime Minister’s carbon tax will cost Alberta families over $2,700 per year once the carbon tax is quadrupled, according to the Parliamentary Budget Officer, the committee call on the Liberal government to immediately cancel the 23% carbon tax increase on April 1, 2024, and that this motion be reported to the House.

Debate arose thereon.

Shannon Stubbs moved, — Given that one in five Canadian households are living in energy poverty, that energy poverty means that households cannot afford to pay for energy costs that meet their daily needs and maintain healthy and safe indoor temperatures, and that the Liberal government’s 23% carbon tax increase on April 1, 2024, is going to make household energy use even more expensive, making it even harder for those living in energy poverty, in order to help the one in five Canadians living in energy poverty, the committee report to the House its recommendation to immediately cancel the Liberal government’s 23% carbon tax increase on April 1, 2024.

Debate arose thereon.
