Pursuant to the order of reference of Tuesday, October 17, 2023, the committee commenced consideration of Bill C-49, An Act to amend the Canada—Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation Act and the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $39,600, for the study of Bill C-49, An Act to amend the Canada—Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation Act and the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $1,500, for the study of Bill C-50, An Act respecting accountability, transparency and engagement to support the creation of sustainable jobs for workers and economic growth in a net-zero economy, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of Bill C-49, An Act to amend the Canada—Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation Act and the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, the proposed budget in the amount of $108,500, for the committee’s travel in Halifax, Nova Scotia and in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador in winter 2024, be adopted.

At 5:48 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
