Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, the committee resumed its study of a greenhouse gas emissions cap for the oil and gas sector.

Josipa Petrunic, Dale Beugin, Merran Smith, Michael Bernstein, Seth Klein and Chris Severson-Baker made statements and, with Jan Gorski, answered questions.

At 5:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:34 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Second Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

  1. That, for the study of the Emissions Reduction Fund – Onshore Program, the analysts will write a short draft report which includes information about the mandate of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development; and that the committee will review and adopt the draft report in camera for one hour at a future meeting date.

  2. That, the committee will invite the Minister of Natural Resources and officials to appear to study the Supplementary Estimates (C), 2021-22, and the Main Estimates 2021-22 prior to the deadlines required to report back to the House.

At 5:43 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
