The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Garnett Genuis moved, — That the committee resume consideration of the motion moved and adjourned at meeting 66, on Monday, May 29, 2023, regarding the study on the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation.

The question was put on the motion and the result of the vote was announced:

YEAS: Blake Desjarlais, Garnett Genuis, Michael Kram, Kelly McCauley, Nathalie Sinclair-Desgagné — 5;

NAYS: Valerie Bradford, Peter Fragiskatos, Brenda Shanahan, Maninder Sidhu, Jean Yip — 5.

Whereupon, the Chair voted in the affirmative.

Accordingly, the motion was agreed to.

The committee resumed consideration of the motion of Garnett Genuis moved on Monday, May 29, 2023, which read as follows:

That in relation to its study of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation, the committee authorize the chair to summon witnesses on its behalf.

At 4:39 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The debate continued

Amendment

Blake Desjarlais moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words after “the committee” with the following “instructs that Edward Johnson, David Johnston, Mel Cappe be invited to appear before this committee and that, given the gravity of the issue, the committee reserve the right to consider sending for persons”.

Debate arose thereon.

At 5:36 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:42 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Brenda Shanahan moved, — That the committee do now adjourn.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Valerie Bradford, Blake Desjarlais, Peter Fragiskatos, Brenda Shanahan, Maninder Sidhu, Jean Yip — 6;

NAYS: Michael Kram, Kelly McCauley, Alex Ruff, Nathalie Sinclair-Desgagné — 4.

At 6:00 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
