Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs travels North March 12-18, 2023

Ottawa, March 07, 2023 -

From March 12-18, 2023, the Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs will travel to Cambridge Bay, NU, Kugluktuk, NU, and Yellowknife, NT, as part of its study on Arctic Sovereignty, Security and Emergency Preparedness. The Committee will be conducting site visits and informal meetings with community leaders, and plans to visit the Canadian High Arctic Research Station, the Early Warning System and Joint Task Force North.

Members traveling with the Committee include Vance Badawey, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services; Jenica Atwin, Marcus Powlowski, Bob Zimmer, Sylvie Bérubé, and Lori Idlout.

This trip is the Committee’s first trip North since 2017 when they traveled to Yellowknife to hear testimony on Specific Land Claims and Land Claims Agreements.
