Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, the committee commenced its study of oversight of medical devices (breast implants).

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 12:15 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:20 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of oversight of medical devices (breast implants), the proposed work plan be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $ 10,500, for the study of oversight of medical devices (breast implants), be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the deadline for the submission of briefs in relation to the study of oversight of medical devices (breast implants) be Friday, May 12, 2023.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $ 7,600, for the study of the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, March 9, 2023, in relation to the study of the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board (PMPRB), the committee invite only the following witnesses to appear:

  • Hon. Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Health;
  • Matthew Herder, former member, PMPRB;
  • Mélanie Bourassa Forcier, former acting chair, PMPRB; and
  • Douglas Clark, former executive director, PMPRB.

At 12:59 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
