Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, January 20, 2022, the committee resumed its study of the North Atlantic right whale.

Jean Lanteigne, Martin Noël, Bonnie Morse and Keith Sullivan made statements and answered questions.

At 4:15 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the committee continue to sit.

At 4:46 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:51 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 5:06 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:09 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Paul Lansbergen, Molly Aylward and Michael Barron made statements and, with Melanie Giffin, answered questions.

At 5:53 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:56 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the impacts of Hurricane Fiona and the climate crisis on Atlantic Canada, the deadline for the submission of witness lists to the clerk be 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the ecosystem impacts and management of pinniped populations, the deadline for the submission of witness lists to the clerk be 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, the committee resumed its study of science at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

The committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the members of the committee submit to the clerk their recommendations in relation to the study of science at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022.

At 6:17 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
