Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, February 2, 2023, the committee held a briefing on the current situation in Peru.

Stéphane Bergeron gave notice of the following motion:

That the committee report to the House that it calls on the Azerbaijani authorities, in accordance with its obligations as a party to the trilateral declaration of November 9, 2020, and following the appeal made by the Government of Canada on December 14, 2022, to reopen the Lachin Corridor and guarantee freedom of movement in order to avoid any deterioration in the humanitarian situation.

Roberto Rodriguez made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:11 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:19 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Michael Grant made a statement and, with Jason Tolland, answered questions.

Garnett Genuis gave notice of the following motion:

That the committee undertake a study of the conduct of McKinsey & Company internationally and of the implications of the Government of Canada’s contracts with McKinsey for our foreign policy.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $ 750.00, for the briefing on the current situation in Peru, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the situation at the Russia-Ukraine border and implications for peace and security, the proposed budget in the amount of $ 277,832.03, for the committee’s travel to Belgium, Finland, Sweden, and Poland in winter 2023, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the draft news release, in relation to the presentation of the report on the study of the extreme flooding in Pakistan, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the draft news release, in relation to the presentation of the report on the study of the situation at the Russia-Ukraine border and implications for peace and security, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the clerk of the committee make the necessary hospitality arrangements to purchase appropriate gifts in relation to the reception invitations scheduled on Monday, February, 13, 2023, and Wednesday, February 15, 2023, with the Ambassador of Sweden to Canada, H.E. Urban Ahlin, the Ambassador of Finland to Canada, H.E. Roy Eriksson and the Ambassador of Poland to Canada, H.E. H.E. Witold Dzielski.

It was agreed, — That a briefing be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, in relation to the humanitarian crisis following a series of earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria and that members submit their witness lists by 5:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

At 1:02 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
