The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the First Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

Your subcommittee met on Monday, June 20, 2022, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That the analyst prepare a briefing document summarizing the testimony and documentation received by the Special Committee on Canada-China Relations for its study on the National Security Dimensions of the Canada-China Relationship during the 2nd Session of the 43rd Parliament, and that this briefing document be distributed to the members of the committee by Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

2. That the committee invite, officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, as well as others (to be determined) to provide an update on the state of China-Canadian relations; and that members submit their list of suggested witnesses by the end of July 2022.

3. That the committee undertake a continuation of the study on matters related to national security from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, and that the testimony and documents received by the committee during the 2nd Session of the 43rd Parliament be taken into consideration by the committee in the current session; that the committee hold a minimum of four meetings; that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House; and that members submit their list of suggested witnesses by Tuesday, August 19, 2022.

4. That, the committee undertake a study on Canada-Taiwan relations; that the testimony and documents received by the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development during the 1st Session of the 44th Parliament on the subject be taken into consideration by the committee in the current session; that the committee hold a minimum of three meetings; and that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House.

5. That, the committee undertake a study on the exposure of Canadian investment funds to Chinese equities and bonds linked to human rights violations.

6. That, the committee undertake a study of Canada's Indo-Pacific Strategy once it is released by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development.

It was agreed, — That the First Report from the subcommittee be concurred in.

It was agreed, — That the clerk of the committee be authorized to grant access to the committee's digital binder to the offices of the whips of each recognized party.

It was agreed, — That, for the meeting of Tuesday, October 4, 2022, the committee invite officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, the Department of Citizenship and Immigration and the Department of National Defence, as well as other non governmental witnesses to provide an update on the state of China-Canada relations.

At 7:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
