Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, March 11, 2021, the committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2021-22: Vote 1 under Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, Vote 1 under Canadian Transportation Agency, Votes 1, 5 and 10 under Department of Transport, Vote 1 under Marine Atlantic Inc., Votes 1, 5 and 10 under Office of Infrastructure of Canada, Vote 1 under The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited, Vote 1 under The Jacques-Cartier and Champlain Bridges Inc., Vote 1 under VIA Rail Canada Inc., Vote 1 under Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority, referred to the committee on Thursday, February 25, 2021.

The Chair called Vote 1 under Canadian Air Transport Security Authority.

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 4:46 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:48 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Kevin Brosseau, Michael DeJong, Craig Hutton, Michael Keenan, Anuradha Marisetti and Ryan Pilgrim answered questions.

Motion

The Committee resumed consideration of the motion of Xavier Barsalou-Duval, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(a), an Order of the Committee do issue for correspondence between Transport Canada, including the Minister of Transport and his staff, and the Canadian Transportation Agency regarding cancelled plane tickets and the right of air passengers to be reimbursed, and that these documents be provided to the Committee Clerk within 15 days following the adoption of this motion.

The debate continued.

Amendment

Chris Bittle moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing all the words after “the Minister” with the following “of Transport’s office, and the Canadian Transportation Agency regarding cancelled plane tickets and that these documents be provided to the Committee Clerk within 30 days following the adoption of this motion”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Chris Bittle and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(a), an Order of the Committee do issue for correspondence between Transport Canada, including the Minister of Transport’s office, and the Canadian Transportation Agency regarding cancelled plane tickets and that these documents be provided to the Committee Clerk within 30 days following the adoption of this motion.
