At 4:42 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:46 p.m., the sitting resumed.
The committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.
The Chair called Clause 1.
On Clause 1,
Anthony Housefather moved, — That Bill C-220, in Clause 1, be amended by replacing line 4 on page 1 to line 2 on page 2 with the following:“1 Subsection 210(1) of the Canada Labour Code is replaced by the following:
210 (1) Every employee is entitled to and shall be granted, in the event of the death of a member of their immediate family or a family member in respect of whom the employee is, at the time of the death, on leave under section 206.3 or 206.4, a leave of absence from employment of up to 10 days that may be taken during the period that begins on the day on which the death occurs and ends six weeks after the latest of the days on which any funeral, burial or memorial service of the deceased person occurs.“
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Anthony Housefather and it was agreed to.
Clause 1, as amended, carried.
On new Clause 2,
Matt Jeneroux moved, — That Bill C-220 be amended by adding after line 2 on page 2 the following:“Coming into Force
2 This Act comes into force on the day that, in the third month after the month in which it receives royal assent, has the same calendar number as the day on which it receives royal assent or, if that third month has no day with that number, the last day of that third month.”
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Matt Jeneroux and it was agreed to.
On Title,
Anthony Housefather moved, — That Bill C-220 be amended by replacing the long title on page 1 with the following:“An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (bereavement leave)”
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Anthony Housefather and it was agreed to.
The Title, as amended, carried.
The Bill, as amended, was adopted.
ORDERED, — That the Chair report the Bill, as amended, to the House.
ORDERED, — That Bill C-220, as amended, be reprinted for the use of the House of Commons at report stage.
Louise Chabot moved, — That all documents submitted for committee business that do not come from a federal department or that have not been translated by the Translation Bureau be sent for prior linguistic review by the Translation Bureau before being distributed to members.
Debate arose thereon.
Raquel Dancho moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “federal department” with the following: “or a member’s office”.
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Raquel Dancho and it was agreed to.
After debate, the question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to.
The motion, as amended, read as follows:
That all documents submitted for committee business that do not come from a federal department or a member's office or that have not been translated by the Translation Bureau be sent for prior linguistic review by the Translation Bureau before being distributed to members.
On motion of Louise Chabot, it was agreed, — That the clerk inform each witness who is to appear before the committee that the House Administration support team must conduct technical tests to check the connectivity and the equipment used to ensure the best possible sound quality; and that the chair advises the committee, at the start of each meeting, of any witness who did not perform the required technical tests.
Louise Chabot moved, — That the text of any substantive motion or any motion in amendment of a substantive motion be distributed in writing in both official languages to all committee members before the committee begins debate on such a motion.
By unanimous consent, the motion was withdrawn.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:
