Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, the Committee resumed its study on immigration consultants.

Jose Eustaquio, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, David Nurse, by videoconference from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Jason Ottey, Jason McMichael and Jacobus Kriek made statements and answered questions.


Jenny Kwan moved, — That the Committee resume debate on the motion moved by Jenny Kwan on Monday, April 10, 2017.

The question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Jenny Kwan, Michelle Rempel, Bob Saroya, David Tilson — 4;

NAYS: Gary Anandasangaree, Julie Dzerowicz, Randeep Sarai, Nick Whalen, Salma Zahid — 5.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:38 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Wensi Zhang, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, Shuai Liu, by videoconference from Victoria, British Columbia, witness 1 and witness 2 made statements and answered questions.

At 5:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:31 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the study on immigration consultants be extended by one (1) meeting.

At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
