The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room 268, The Valour Building, the Chair, Daryl Kramp, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Diane Ablonczy, Rosane Doré Lefebvre, Hon. Wayne Easter, Ted Falk, Randall Garrison, Roxanne James, Daryl Kramp, Rick Norlock and LaVar Payne.

 

Acting Members present: Élaine Michaud for Jean Rousseau.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tanya Dupuis, Analyst; Christine Morris, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As individuals: Thomas Quiggin; Christian Leuprecht, Associate Dean and Associate Professor, Faculty of Arts, Royal Military College of Canada. House of Commons Security Services Employees Association: Roch Lapensée, President. Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Michael Ferguson, Auditor General of Canada; Gordon Stock, Principal.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 14, 2015, the Committee resumed its study of the subject-matter of Division 2 (Prevention of Terrorist Travel Act) of Part 3, and Division 10 (Parliamentary Protective Service) of Part 3 of Bill C-59, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 21, 2015 and other measures.
 

Thomas Quiggin and Christian Leuprecht made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:45 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:49 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Roch Lapensée and Michael Ferguson made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:46 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
