The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Phil McColeman, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Ray Boughen, Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Jim Eglinski, Phil McColeman and Jinny Jogindera Sims.

 

Acting Members present: Dany Morin for Sadia Groguhé, Mathieu Ravignat for Jinny Jogindera Sims, Robert Sopuck for Colin Mayes, Dave Van Kesteren for Ray Boughen and Mike Wallace for Scott Armstrong.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Caroline Quesnel, Analyst; Shauna Troniak, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Enactus Canada: Preston Aitken, Director, Programs. Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network: Vickie Cammack, Co-founder, Founding Chief Executive Officer of Tyze Personal Networks; Al Etmanski, Co-founder, Founding Partner of Social Innovation Generation. Imagine Canada: Brian Emmett, Chief Economist, Canada's Charitable and Nonprofit Sector. Social Enterprise Council of Canada: David LePage, Chair. Social Economy Working Group: François Vermette, Director of Development.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of Exploring the Potential of Social Finance in Canada, the proposed budget in the amount of $ 107, 853.62, for the travel of ten (10) members of the Committee accompanied by the necessary staff to the following destination: London, United Kingdom, in Spring 2015, be adopted.

 

At 3:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:35 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 5, 2015, the Committee resumed its study on Exploring the Potential of Social Finance in Canada.
 

David LePage, by videoconference from Vancouver (British Columbia), and François Vermette made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Al Etmanski and Vickie Cammack, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, Brian Emmett and Preston Aitken, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
