    Welcome to the 41st meeting of the Standing Committee on Official Languages, today, Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Pursuant to Standing Order No. 106, we are here today to elect a vice-chair. Now I will let the clerk proceed with the election.
    Pursuant to Standing Order No. 106(2), the second vice-chair shall be a member of an opposition party other than the official opposition party.

    I'm now prepared to receive a motion for a second vice-chair.

[Translation]

    I nominate Stéphane Dion.
    It has been moved by Mr. Godin that Stéphane Dion be elected second vice-chair of the committee. Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    Some hon. members: Yes.
    The Clerk: I declare the motion carried and Mr. Dion duly elected second vice-chair of the committee.
