The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Brad Butt, Chris Charlton, Ryan Cleary, Joe Daniel, Ed Komarnicki, François Lapointe, Kellie Leitch, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Joyce Murray for Rodger Cuzner.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Centre for the Study of Living Standards: Andrew Sharpe, Executive Director. Carleton University: Patrick Coe, Associate Professor of Economics; Christopher Worswick, Professor, Department of Economics. HEC Montréal: Benoit Dostie, Associate Professor and Director, Institute of applied economics. Atlantic Evaluation and Research Consultants Inc.: Robert Crocker, Principal. University of British Columbia: John Meredith, Adjunct Professor, Department of Educational Studies.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 27, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of economic opportunities for young apprentices.
 

Andrew Sharpe, Patrick Coe and Christopher Worswick made statements and answered questions.

 

Benoit Dostie, Robert Crocker and John Meredith made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:05 a.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit until 10:17 a.m.

 

At 10:15 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
