The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 9:01 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Shawn Murphy, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Josée Beaudin, David Christopherson, Hon. Stéphane Dion, Earl Dreeshen, Meili Faille, Daryl Kramp, Derek Lee, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Andrew Saxton, Bev Shipley and Terence Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Maria Edwards; Alex Smith.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the Third Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

Your Subcommittee met on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That pursuant to the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 25, 2010, the Chair be authorized to write letters to departments and agencies with respect to the government’s responses to the Committee’s recommendations made in the Second Session of the 40th Parliament.

2. That the Chair be authorized to write letters to the government requesting an update on the implementation of the Committee’s recommendations in its report on Chapter 9, “Pension and Insurance Administration—Royal Canadian Mounted Police,” of the November 2006 Report of the Auditor General of Canada (2nd Report, 2nd Session of the 39th Parliament).

 

It was agreed, — That the report of the Subcommittee, be concurred in.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 7, "Emergency Management - Public Safety Canada" of the Fall 2009 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: “Chapter 7, “Emergency Management - Public Safety Canada,” of the Fall 2009 Report of the Auditor General of Canada”.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

It was agreed, —That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, —That the Clerk of the Committee prepare and issue a press release following the presentation of the report in the House.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 3, "Income Tax Legislation" of the Fall 2009 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.
