The Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Steven Blaney, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Steven Blaney, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Jean-Claude JC D'Amours, Royal Galipeau, Shelly Glover, Yvon Godin, Richard Nadeau, Tilly O'Neill-Gordon, Daniel Petit, Pablo Rodriguez and Lise Zarac.

 

Acting Members present: France Bonsant for Monique Guay.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst; Nicolas Auclair, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Quebec Community Groups Network: Robert Donnelly, President; Sylvia Martin-Laforge, Director General; Lawrence dePoe, Executive Director of Canadian Parents for French - Québec; Heather Stronach, Executive Director of the Regional Association of West Quebecers.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the impacts of the delays in providing funding to beneficiary organizations from the Department of Canadian Heritage.
 

Robert Donnelly, Lawrence dePoe and Heather Stronach made statements and, with Sylvia Martin-Laforge, answered questions.

 

At 10:46 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:48 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $5,200, for the study of the impacts of the delays in providing funding to beneficiary organizations from the Department of Canadian Heritage, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Canadian Heritage to appear before the Committee for one hour, on the study of the impacts of the delays in providing funding to beneficiary organizations from the Department of Canadian Heritage.

 

At 11:02 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
