[Recorded by Electronic Apparatus]
(1730)
[English]
That RCMP officials Bob Paulson, Chief Superintendent and Acting Assistant Commissioner, National Security Criminal Investigation, [Paulson] and Raf Souccar, Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Federal Policing, [Souccar] who appeared before the Committee on June 10, 2008, as well as Sergeant Sylvie Tremblay of the RCMP, be invited to appear on Wednesday, June 18 to explain why Paulson and Souccar refused to reveal to the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security the fact that they did not advise the Privy Council Office of security concerns in relation to Mme. Julie Couillard.
For the future business meeting, I'd like some real precision about what powers the committee has in terms of compelling witnesses and what powers the House has with respect to compelling witnesses.
It's a matter of going to Marleau and Montpetit. For Wednesday the clerk can prepare maybe a brief summary of what powers the committee has to compel witnesses to come.
