The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 10:30 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Bonnie Brown, Patrick Brown, Hon. Denis Coderre, Jean-Claude D'Amours, Mike Lake, Yves Lessard, Hon. Geoff Regan and Lynne Yelich.

 

Acting Members present: Rob Anders for Russ Hiebert, Libby Davies for Tony Martin and Carole Lavallée for France Bonsant.

 

Other Members present: Richard Nadeau.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Labour Congress: Ken Georgetti, President; Hassan Yussuff, Secretary-Treasurer. Public Service Alliance of Canada: Patricia Ducharme, National Executive Vice-President. Canadian Bankers Association: Normand Côté, Director General, Employee Relations, BMO Financial Group; Santo Alborino, Executive Counsellor, Human Resources, National Bank of Canada. Federally Regulated Employers - Transportation and Communication (FETCO): Don V. Brazier, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 25, 2006, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-257, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (replacement workers).
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
