The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, James Bezan, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David Anderson, Alex Atamanenko, James Bezan, Ken Boshcoff, Barry Devolin, Hon. Wayne Easter, Roger Gaudet, Jacques Gourde, Hon. Charles Hubbard, Larry Miller and Paul Steckle.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Lawrence MacAulay for Ken Boshcoff.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Egg Marketing Agency: Laurent Souligny, Chair; Peter Clarke, Vice-Chair; Fred Krahn, Executive Committee Member. Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food: Marc Fortin, Assistant Deputy Minister, Research Branch; Suzanne Vinet, Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy Branch; Gilles Saindon, Director General, Science Bureau.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Agricultural Policy Framework.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Wayne Easter moved, — “ That, the Standing Committee of Agriculture & Agri-food recommend that the Minister of Agriculture & Agri-food immediately rescind the changes announced to the Canadian Farm Family Options Program on April 20, 2007 and restore the provisions of the program as originally announced. ”

That this Motion be made a Report to the House.

Debate arose thereon.
