Wednesday, February 26, 2003

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Odina Desrochers, John Finlay, Paul Forseth, Roger Gaudet, Steve Mahoney, Philip Mayfield, Val Meredith, Tony Tirabassi, Judy Wasylycia-Leis and John Williams.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal, Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; Hugh McRoberts, Assistant Auditor General; Wendy Loschiuk, Principal. From the Department of National Defence: Alan Williams, Assistant Deputy Minister, Materiel; Jim Richardson, Director, Major Service Delivery Procurement; E.G. (Gaston) Cloutier, Director General Air Personnel; Robert Bertrand, Director Air Comptrollership and Business Management.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee commenced consideration of Chapter 4 (National Defence - NATO Flying Training in Canada) of the September 2002 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

Sheila Fraser and Alan Williams made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
