The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 8:32 a.m. this day, in the Port Royal Room, Château Moncton, Moncton, New Brunswick, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Jean-Yves Roy, Peter Stoffer, Tom Wappel, Bob Wood.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: François Côté, research officer.

Witnesses: From the Richibucto River Association: Gerald Beck, President and Coordinator. From the Botsford Professional Fishermen's Association: Donna Murray; Pauline Smallwood. From the New Brunswick Seafood Processors’ Association: Angélina Cool, Executive Director. From the "Fédération régionale acadienne des pêcheurs professionnels": Jean Saint-Cyr, Director General. From the Atlantic Salmon Federation: Stephen A. Chase, Vice President, Government Affairs. From the "Association des crabiers acadiens": Robert Haché, Director General; Joël Gionet, Spokesperson.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Atlantic Fisheries Issues (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, May 6, 2003, Meeting No. 32).

Gerald Beck made a statement and answered questions.

Donna Murray made a statement and, with Pauline Smallwood, answered questions.

Angélina Cool made a statement and answered questions.

Jean Saint-Cyr made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:00 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:03 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Stephen Chase made a statement and answered questions.

Robert Haché made a statement and, with Joël Gionet, answered questions.

At 12:10 p.m., Jean Yves Roy took the Chair.

At 12:13 p.m., Tom Wappel took the Chair.

At 12:46 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
