The Sub-Committee on Children and Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, John Godfrey, presiding.
Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: John Godfrey, Monique Guay, Carol Skelton and Alan Tonks.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Julie Mackenzie, Research Officer.
Witness(es): From the Department of Justice Canada: Patricia Begin, Director, Research & Evaluation, National Crime Prevention Centre; Bill Pentney, Deputy Head, Aboriginal Affairs Portfolio; Odette Johnston, Senior Policy and Program Advisor, Aboriginal Justice Directorate. From the Statistics Canada: Roy Jones, Director, Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and its Order of Reference from the
Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons
with Disabilities (See Minutes of Proceedings of March 01, 2001 – Meeting No.06),
the Sub-Committee resumed its study on the status of aboriginal children living
on and off reserves and on federal programs available to them (See Minutes
of Proceedings of November 7th, 2001 – Meeting No.10)
Patricia Begin, Bill Pentney and Roy Jones made a statement and with the other witness answered question.
At 5:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
