The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in video recorded session at 8:35 a.m. this day, in Salon A of the Delta Hotel in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Chair, Wayne Easter, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Andy Burton, Wayne Easter, Loyola Hearn, Dominic LeBlanc, James Lunney, Bill Matthews, Jean-Yves Roy, Peter Stoffer, Tom Wappel.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador: Gerry Reid, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture; Tom Dooley, Director, Department of Fisheries. From the House of Assembly, Newfoundland and Labrador Government: Trevor Taylor, Member of the House of Assembly. From the Newfoundland and Labrador Rural Rights and Boat Owners Association: Jim Morgan, Spokesperson. From the Town of Burgeo: Allister Hann, Mayor.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of the implications of extending Canada's Exclusive Economic Zone to include the Nose and Tail of the Grand Banks and the Flemish Cap (See Minutes of Proceedings of Monday, March 11, 2002, Meeting No. 42).
Gerry Reid made a presentation and, with Tom Dooley, answered questions.
Trevor Taylor made a presentation and answered questions.
At 10:46 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 11:00 a.m., the sitting resumed.
Jim Morgan made a presentation and answered questions.
Allister Hann made a presentation and answered questions.
At 12:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
