Meeting No. 10

Thursday, October 28, 1999

The Standing Committee on Transport met in a televised session at 9:04 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Stan Keyes, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Gérard Asselin, Roy Bailey, Murray Calder, Bill Casey, Joe Comuzzi, Bev Desjarlais, Stan Dromisky, Michel Guimond, Charles Hubbard, Ovid Jackson, Stan Keyes, Val Meredith, Gerry Ritz.

Acting Members present: Gary Lunn for Val Meredith (from 10:47 a.m. until 11:05 a.m.); Daniel Turp for Michel Guimond (from 10:22 a.m. until 10:57 p.m.). Daniel Turp for Gérard Asselin (from 11:00 a.m. until 11:05 a.m.).

Other Member present: Carolyn Parrish.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: John Christopher; June Dewetering, Researchers.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Airlines International Ltd.: Kevin Benson, President and Chief Executive Officer; Stephen Markey, Senior Vice-President, Corporate and Government Affairs.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on the future of the airline industry in Canada.

Kevin Benson made an opening statement and, with Stephen Markey, answered questions.

At 11:05 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
