The Clerk of the Committee: Honourable members, there is a quorum. Your first order of business, pursuant to Standing Order 106, is the election of a chair. I'm ready to receive motions to that effect.

Mr. Walt Lastewka (St. Catharines, Lib.): Mr. Chairman, I move that Susan Whelan do take the chair.

Ms. Marlene Jennings (Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Lachine, Lib.): I second it.

The Clerk: Are there any other motions?

It's moved by Mr. Lastewka and seconded by Madam Jennings that Susan Whelan do take the chair of this committee.
