The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:12 a.m. this day, in the Windsor Ballroom, ROYAL MERIDIEN KING EDWARD HOTEL, Toronto, Ontario, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Gilbert Barrette, Carolyn Bennett, Bonnie Brown, Jeannot Castonguay and Réal Ménard.

 

Acting Members present: Brian Masse for Svend Robinson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Genzyme Canada Inc.: Paul Drohan, Managing Director; Peter Brenders, Health Affairs Executive. Pharmex Direct Inc.: Thomas Holloway, President. Biogen Canada: Rob Hamilton, President; Robert Kulik, Manager, Reimbursement and Government Affairs. Canada's Association for the Fifty-Plus: Lillian Morgenthau, President and Founder. Canadian Auto Workers Union: Dean Lindsay, National Coordinator - Retirees; Len Harrison, Retired Worker Executive. Women and Health Protection: Anne Rochon Ford, Coordinator. Canadian Pensioners Concerned Inc.: Gerda Kaegi, President; Barbara M. Black, Past President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on February 17, 2003, the Committee resumed its study of Prescription Drugs.
 

Paul Drohan, Thomas Holloway, Rob Hamilton made statements and answered questions.

At 10:18 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:39 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Lillian Morgenthau, Len Harrison, Anne Rochon Ford and Gerda Kaegi made statements and, with other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:09 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
