The Standing Committee on Health met at 8:09 a.m. this day, in the Plaza 2 Room, PLAZA QUEBEC HOTEL, Quebec, Quebec, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Gilbert Barrette, Bonnie Brown, Réal Ménard, Rob Merrifield, Svend Robinson and Hélène Scherrer.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst.

Witnesses: Fédération des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec: Sylvie Boulanger, First Vice-President; Lucie Mercier, Consultant. Committee of People Living with HIV of Quebec: Marc Lapierre, President; Luc Gagnon, Executive Director; José Sousa, Member of the Board of Directors. University of Quebec in Montreal: Marc Hasbani, Researcher, Socio-economic Research Chair. Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec: Jean-Yves Julien, President; Marc Parent, Administrator. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on February 17, 2003, the Committee resumed its study of Prescription Drugs.

Sylvie Boulanger, Jean-Yves Julien and Paul Saba made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 9:08 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:10 a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 9:10 a.m., Réal Ménard took the Chair.

At 9:31 a.m., Bonnie Brown took the Chair.

France Latreille, Charles Tanguay, Martha Paynter and Luc Gagnon made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 10:00 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:16 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Joseph Kerba, Richard Mayrand, Michel Leblanc and Marc Hasbani made statements and answered questions.

At 11:21 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
